Usage Tips

Some tips to get the most out of Hibiki.

Improving accuracy

Environment

  • Dictate in a quiet place — background noise degrades transcription
  • Use a headset mic rather than the built-in laptop mic
  • Keep the mic 10-15 cm from your mouth

Diction

  • Speak at a natural pace, neither too fast nor too slow
  • Articulate clearly, especially technical terms
  • Make complete sentences rather than isolated words

Personal dictionary

The personal dictionary improves accuracy for your specific terms:

  1. Settings > Dictionary
  2. Add your terms: proper nouns, acronyms, technical terms
  3. Examples: “Shinkofa”, “ADHD”, “TypeScript”, “PySide6”

The dictionary guides the transcription model to better recognize these words.

Efficient workflows

For writing

  1. Open your text editor
  2. Dictate a first draft without worrying about perfection
  3. Review and correct afterwards

For emails

  1. Open your email client
  2. Dictate the message body
  3. Voice commands (“period”, “new line”) automatically structure the text

For code (comments)

  1. Place the cursor where you want the comment
  2. Dictate your comment
  3. Adjust punctuation manually if needed
