Usage Tips
Some tips to get the most out of Hibiki.
Improving accuracy
Environment
- Dictate in a quiet place — background noise degrades transcription
- Use a headset mic rather than the built-in laptop mic
- Keep the mic 10-15 cm from your mouth
Diction
- Speak at a natural pace, neither too fast nor too slow
- Articulate clearly, especially technical terms
- Make complete sentences rather than isolated words
Personal dictionary
The personal dictionary improves accuracy for your specific terms:
- Settings > Dictionary
- Add your terms: proper nouns, acronyms, technical terms
- Examples: “Shinkofa”, “ADHD”, “TypeScript”, “PySide6”
The dictionary guides the transcription model to better recognize these words.
Efficient workflows
For writing
- Open your text editor
- Dictate a first draft without worrying about perfection
- Review and correct afterwards
For emails
- Open your email client
- Dictate the message body
- Voice commands (“period”, “new line”) automatically structure the text
For code (comments)
- Place the cursor where you want the comment
- Dictate your comment
- Adjust punctuation manually if needed
